Educational Facilities Best Practices Summit
February 1, 2011
TUFF congratulates Robert McGrath in accepting the new Director position at Georgia Tech Research Institute (GTRI). McGrath succeeds Stephen Cross, who served as GTRI director from 2003 to 2010 before being named Georgia Tech’s Executive Vice President for Research. Prior to accepting this rols McGrath was an executive with Battelle Memorial, consulting on National Laboratory/University Partnerships, STEM Education, and Race to the Top initiatives. Prior to his time at Battelle, McGrath served as the Senior Vice President for Research at The Ohio State University from 2004 to 2008 and as Associate Vice President for Research and Director of Strategic and Interdisciplinary Initiatives at The Pennsylvania State University from 1998 to 2004.
Since its inception in 1982, TUFF has helped facilitate GTRI’s mission in expanding and advancing scientific understanding. TUFF is confident McGrath, with his executive level background in research and academic collaborations, will complement and expand upon Cross’s many accomplishments at GTRI. Furthermore, TUFF looks forward in assisting GTRI in helping Georgia Tech achieve its mission to “define the technological research University of the 21st century.”
