The University Financing Foundation (TUFF) joins Atlanta and Georgia Tech in mourning the loss of Thomas W. “Tom” Ventulett III, renowned architect, longtime TUFF Board member, and former Chairman.
Tom’s influence can be seen throughout Atlanta in landmarks including the Georgia World Congress Center, Georgia Dome, Atlantic Station, and the King and Queen towers. A proud Georgia Tech graduate, he also had a lasting impact on the Institute and generations of architects through his leadership and support of its architecture program.
Tom brought that same commitment to TUFF. He served on our Board from 2008 through 2024, including as Chairman during an impressive period of national growth for the organization. During his 16 years of service, TUFF executed more than 30 projects totaling over $1.5 billion, significantly expanding the organization’s reach and impact.
Tom spent his career building things that mattered and making institutions stronger. He did that for Atlanta, he did it for Georgia Tech, and he did it for TUFF. His judgment, leadership, and belief in the mission helped make TUFF a stronger organization.
We are grateful for Tom’s 16 years of leadership, friendship, and service to TUFF and extend our condolences to his family and the many people and institutions shaped by his remarkable life.
Tom passed at the age of 90 on August 24, 2026. A public funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on October 3rd at Holy Innocents’ Episcopal Church—fittingly, a chapel and church grounds he helped design.
