The Maryland General Assembly held a hearing this week regarding Senate Bill 270 / Senate Bill 602 that would support the creation of a fund called the Maryland Technology Partnership Program. The fund would be used to support infrastructure and leverage additional private capital to research parks, technology clusters, opportunity zones, and other areas in Maryland on a competitive basis. Since the program aligns closely with the type of support that TUFF provides to communities of innovation around the country, (CEO) Kevin Byrne, has been a strong supporter for the Maryland Technology Partnership Program. Kevin has been a long-time advocate locally and nationally for purposeful innovation policies. Kevin served as the President for the Association of University Research Parks (AURP) and is a nationally recognized authority on communities of innovation and the impact they create. As a result of his expertise, he was called upon to submit a testimony in support of the program.
