TUFF was developing Innovation Districts in partnership with universities long before they were labeled. Since our founding in 1982, we have focused on the development of convergent based destinations that bring together university, industry, and government leadership to create a future driven by innovation. Innovation Districts, especially those anchored by research universities and teaching hospitals, are creating new opportunities for transformative public private partnerships. Austin’s newly established Capital City Innovation District is an exciting example of how these critical environments are evolving. Executive Director, Christopher Laing, and TUFF’s Vice President of Operations, Mason Ailstock, discuss how the Association of University Research Parks (AURP) is helping to advance the University-Anchored Innovation District model to cultivate talent, economic prosperity, and place creation through creative partnerships, activation, and program driven real estate solutions.
