Tech Square, the rapidly expanding community of innovation located in Midtown Atlanta initiated by TUFF more than a decade ago, is attracting new corporate innovation centers. As Tech Square continues to gain global recognition, it is attracting a dense mix of private sector tenants wishing to co-locate with top universities like Georgia Tech. BlackRock recently announced its plans to open a new innovation hub, with eyes on Tech Square, creating 1,000 jobs over the next several years. Highlighted in their announcement, BlackRock executives noted that the selection of Atlanta for the innovation hub had to do with the talent emerging annually out of Georgia Tech, where BlackRock sponsors a scholarship program, and other nearby universities.
